CHI 2018 schedule of technical program

Welcome to the schedule of the technical programme for ACM CHI 2018!

This schedule covers most of the technical program of CHI18 (for a detailed listing of what is included see below).

Overall the schedule contains 667 papers alone (944 entities in total, including workshops, courses, SIGs, Panels, etc., and more than 50 presentations of journal papers.). 2963 Authors individual authors contribute to this the program (excluding Late Breaking Work, Demos, and Workshop participants).

Volunteer to be a session chair

Each Papers session at CHI'18 will be chaired by a session chair. Session chairs ensure that presenters are in the room, know when they are speaking, briefly introduce the speakers, keep time on the presentations to help speakers know when to wrap up, encourage the next speaker to get set up as the previous speaker takes questions, moderate questions from the audience, ask questions when none are immediately forthcoming, and make sure the session wraps up on time. Session chairs do not need to be leading figures in a research area to act as a session chair, although an interest and expertise in it will make this more interesting and easier for them to handle. It’s an important role, the names of session chairs are recorded in the conference programme.

You can volunteer to be a session chair by clicking on a `Chair: TBA` link whenever you encounter it in this schedule.

We would like to have a diverse set of session chairs and particularly encourage those who identify as female, non-binary, LGBTQ+, disabled, and people of color/Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic to volunteer. We aim to find a balance between experienced and new session chairs.

We want to emphasise that volunteering will not guarantee that you will be asked to chair a session. Once a matching session has been found, you will be asked by the Technical Program Chairs whether you are still interested in chairing, and you will have the opportunity to confirm or reject. We will start to contact session chairs from late February 2018.

If you have any questions please contact the Technical Program Chairs via email. We look forward to meeting as many of you as possible at the conference!
